Reporting directly into senior leadership, you will play a key role in both project delivery and the ongoing development of the business. The Role
As an Associate, you will be responsible for managing both pre- and post-contract activities, ensuring projects are delivered successfully within agreed financial parameters. You will take ownership of key project elements, contribute to team development, and play an active role in supporting wider business initiatives including client engagement and growth strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Procurement
- Develop and implement procurement strategies across multiple packages/workstreams
- Conduct market engagement and identify suitable supply chain partners
- Prepare and manage full tender documentation packages
- Lead tender evaluation processes, including analysis, reporting, and client presentations
- Manage two-stage procurement processes where required
- Negotiate and finalise contract documentation with clients and contractors
- Maintain strong stakeholder engagement across all levels
- Post-Contract Management
- Prepare and present cost reports, cashflow forecasts, and financial updates
- Manage change control processes, including variations, claims and loss & expense
- Assess works completed and provide recommendations for interim valuations
- Lead negotiations and agreement of final accounts
- Cost Planning & Estimating
- Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring cost control throughout the lifecycle
- Produce detailed cost plans and estimates at various design stages
- Monitor project changes, risk registers, and contingency allowances
- Carry out benchmarking and market testing exercises
- Analyse design changes and provide cost-effective recommendations
- Risk Management
- Identify and assess project risks and implement mitigation strategies
- Provide proactive commercial advice to project teams
- Support avoidance of disputes and programme delays
About You
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or related discipline
- MRICS (or working towards)
- Strong experience across both pre- and post-contract activities
- Previous consultancy experience highly desirable
- Strong understanding of procurement routes and contract conditions
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Commercially aware with strong analytical and problem-solving ability
- Proactive, self-motivated and able to work independently
- Experience with Microsoft Office and CostX
- Demonstrated leadership ability and experience mentoring team members
- Track record of contributing to business growth and client relationships
