As part of our growth, they are seeking an Environmental & Sustainability Manager to lead the sustainability initiatives and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
The Role
As the Environmental & Sustainability Manager, you will play a key role in developing and implementing environmental strategies to minimise the ecological footprint of our power generation projects and assets. You will ensure compliance with environmental legislation, drive sustainability best practices, and support the business in achieving its net-zero and ESG goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement environmental and sustainability policies, strategies, and management systems.
- Ensure compliance with UK and international environmental regulations (e.g., ISO 14001, ESOS, SECR, Net Zero targets).
- Conduct environmental impact assessments (EIAs) and audits for power generation projects.
- Monitor and report on carbon emissions, energy efficiency, and sustainability performance.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies, clients, and stakeholders on environmental matters.
- Promote sustainable engineering practices, including waste reduction, renewable energy integration, and circular economy principles.
- Lead training and awareness programmes to embed sustainability across the business.
- Stay updated on emerging environmental legislation and industry best practices.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Sustainability, or a related field and equivalent experience.
- Proven experience in environmental and sustainability management, ideally within power generation, energy, or heavy industry.
- Strong knowledge of environmental legislation, carbon reporting, and ESG frameworks.
- Experience with environmental management systems (e.g., ISO 14001).
- Excellent analytical, reporting, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to influence and drive sustainability initiatives at all levels.
Desirable:
- Chartered status (e.g., IEMA, CIWEM) or working towards accreditation.
- Knowledge of renewable energy technologies and decarbonisation strategies.
