Intermediate / Senior Electrical Design Engineer (6–12 Month Contract)

Flexible UK Locations (Preferably Stockport/Windsor) – Hybrid/Home-Based

We’re looking for an Intermediate/Senior Electrical Design Engineer who’s passionate about renewable energy, low-carbon technologies, and creating smart electrical solutions. You’ll be part of a supportive, forward-thinking team working on exciting projects across the public and industrial sectors, including NHS facilities, hotels, leisure centres, and manufacturing sites.

Working alongside an experienced Lead Engineer, you’ll help design, develop, and bring innovative solutions to life—all while growing your own skills in a company that values your development.

About The Role:

  • Designing distributed generation and renewable energy systems
  • Developing LV distribution systems and specifying HV installation works
  • Performing electrical calculations like load estimation and cable sizing
  • Selecting and specifying electrical equipment (CHP, heat pumps, district heating)
  • Creating construction-ready designs—single-line diagrams, material lists, and more
  • Conducting site surveys and ensuring installation quality
  • Hybrid role with occasional UK-wide travel

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Degree or HNC in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent), ideally working towards IEng or CEng status
  • Experience in electrical design, building services, or renewables—or a background in electrical installation with a desire to move into design
  • Knowledge of generators, heat pumps, transformers, switchgear, cables, and control systems
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD LT and Amtech (or similar tools)—EPLAN experience is a plus
  • Team player who enjoys working with others and sharing knowledge
  • Detail-oriented with a passion for delivering high-quality designs
  • Strong communicator who can explain technical concepts in a clear, engaging way
