I am currently recruiting for a Static Site BMS Engineer to join a well-established company based in London, a specialist Building Management Systems and controls business, working on a prestigious and technically complex site at the Natural History Museum in London.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced BMS Engineer looking for a long-term static position within a high-profile environment, taking responsibility for the day-to-day operation, maintenance and optimization of the site's BMS and associated controls systems.
You will work closely with the client's facilities and engineering teams, ensuring the BMS operates reliably and efficiently while responding to faults, carrying out preventative maintenance and supporting ongoing improvements across the site.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate, monitor and maintain the site's Building Management System (BMS).
- Diagnose and resolve BMS and controls-related faults.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance activities.
- Monitor HVAC plant and associated mechanical and electrical systems through the BMS.
- Investigate alarms, trends and system performance issues.
- Carry out BMS software modifications and system adjustments where required.
- Support the optimisation of HVAC systems to improve reliability and energy efficiency.
- Monitor plant performance and identify potential issues before they develop into failures.
- Work alongside the site's facilities, engineering and maintenance teams.
- Liaise with specialist contractors and service providers when required.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, faults and system changes.
- Assist with BMS upgrades, modifications and improvement projects.
- Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with site procedures and relevant health & safety requirements.
- Provide technical support and advice to the wider engineering team.
Requirements
- Previous experience working as a BMS Engineer, BMS Service Engineer, Controls Engineer or Building Automation Engineer.
- Strong practical knowledge of BMS and HVAC control systems.
- Experience fault-finding BMS and controls systems.
- Good understanding of HVAC plant, including AHUs, chillers, boilers, pumps and associated controls.
- Experience with BMS software and graphical interfaces.
- Understanding of common BMS protocols such as BACnet, Trend, Modbus or similar.
- Ability to work independently and manage day-to-day technical issues on site.
- Strong communication and customer-facing skills.
- A proactive approach to preventative maintenance and system optimization.
- Relevant electrical, controls, HVAC or BMS qualifications are advantageous.
