About Us: ClearRoute is an engineering consultancy bridging Quality Engineering, Cloud Platforms and Developer Experience. We help enterprises reliably bring high-impact digital products to market faster, cheaper, and safer, working with technology leaders facing complex business challenges. We take as much pride in our people, culture and work-life balance as we do in making better software. We’re not just making better software. We’re making the making of software better. Collaborative, entrepreneurial and dedicated to problem solving, we bring the step change our customers need to sustain innovation. Our values challenge us to do the best we can for ClearRoute, our customers and most importantly our team. This is an opportunity for you to build the organisation from the ground up, use your voice to drive change and help transform organisations and problem domains.

Role: At ClearRoute, the Technical Delivery Manager is the operational backbone of an engagement: running governance, managing risk, coordinating delivery teams, and keeping clients and ClearRoute aligned. Unlike a pure project manager, we are looking for a Technical Delivery Manager who is engineering-literate and leads delivery in an engineering-first way, holding the team to strong Agile and engineering-excellence practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and run the Delivery Playbook governance structure and cadence (kickoff, planning, execution, closure).
  • Facilitate communication between client and ClearRoute; maintain a clear view of who is working on what and who the stakeholders are.
  • Capture delivery data, RAG status, risks and insights for governance reporting (bi-weekly and monthly delivery reviews).
  • Manage engagement risk to protect ClearRoute's interests; identify and decouple dependencies.
  • Coordinate workstreams, coach the team, ensure quality of deliverables and adherence to Agile practices.
  • Run the Delivery Health Check Toolkit regularly to gauge team health/performance.
  • Own engagement closure: sign-off of deliverables, engagement review, case study and IP capture.

Required Experience:

  • Proven track record managing software delivery engagements end-to-end (on time, on scope, on budget), ideally in a consultancy or client-facing services environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of Agile delivery methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) and modern engineering practices (CI/CD, DORA metrics, quality engineering), with enough technical literacy to challenge and guide engineering teams.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, including the ability to build trust with senior client stakeholders and economic buyers.
  • Demonstrable risk and dependency management capability, with sound commercial judgement to protect delivery and margin.
  • Experience running delivery governance and reporting — status, RAG, risk logs — and presenting to client and internal leadership.
  • Ability to coach and coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and to operate pragmatically by adapting process to context rather than applying it rigidly.

Desirable Experience:

  • Background as a hands-on software engineer or technical lead before moving into delivery management.
  • Experience across multiple engagement models (Time & Materials, Capability/squad-based, and Outcome/OKR-based).
  • Familiarity with cloud, DevOps, and test-automation domains.
  • Experience setting up engagements from scratch — onboarding teams onto client systems, co-creating backlogs, and establishing delivery cadence.

How to prepare for a job interview at Clear Route

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If Clear Route uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

Showcase Your Projects

Bring along a portfolio that highlights our best work. This could be code samples, GitHub repositories, or any side projects we’ve built. Make sure we can talk through our thought process for each project, especially the challenges we faced and how we solved them—this shows our problem-solving skills in action.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
