We are looking for an experienced, self-starting and diligent Clio Operate Configurator to join our team.

This is a hands‑on, configuration‑led implementation role for someone who can contribute immediately on client assignments.

The successful candidate will design, build, configure, test and deploy Clio Operate solutions for law firms, working from agreed requirements and clarifying detail where needed.

They must be confident and capable in front of clients, able to communicate credibly with fee earners, case handlers, business analysts and technical teams, and able to guide conversations towards the information and decisions needed to complete the configuration.

The primary focus is expert Clio Operate configuration rather than business analysis, product ownership or general legaltech.

Key Responsibilities

  • Configure and customise Clio Operate to meet agreed client, practice area and work type requirements.
  • Design and configure core platform areas, including work types and inheritance, phase plans and guards, key dates, aspects and blades, data capture and forms, business rules, personas, portals and workbenches, teams, roles and permissions, list views, notifications and workflow automation.
  • Build clear, efficient and maintainable workflows that guide users through legal and operational processes.
  • Configure document templates, document processes and related platform features within the agreed implementation scope.
  • Implement and support integration‑related configuration for common law firm systems, including finance and practice management platforms such as Aderant or SOS, and document management platforms such as i Manage.
  • Work with technical specialists on data mappings, triggers, workflows, API‑enabled processes and troubleshooting where bespoke development or deeper technical work is required.
  • Participate confidently in client meetings, workshops, demonstrations and solution playbacks, asking focused questions and confirming the detail required to complete the build.
  • Explain Clio Operate capabilities and configuration choices clearly, helping stakeholders reach practical decisions while the wider business analysis remains with the appropriate project role.
  • Work effectively with fee earners, case handlers, business analysts, project teams, technical teams, testers and other configurators throughout delivery.
  • Package, promote and validate configuration changes across Clio Operate environments in line with agreed change and release controls.
  • Carry out configuration testing, support system and user acceptance testing, troubleshoot issues and resolve defects.
  • Demonstrate configured solutions, provide knowledge transfer, and maintain accurate configuration records, test evidence, release notes and supporting documentation.
  • Stay current with Clio Operate features, training resources and legal technology developments, applying learning to improve build quality and delivery.
  • Two to three years of hands‑on experience implementing and configuring Clio Operate, formerly Share Do, within a law firm or implementation partner environment, including independently designing, building, testing and deploying configuration.
  • Strong working knowledge of core Clio Operate configuration, including work types, phases and guards, key dates, aspects and blades, business rules, personas and portals, roles and permissions, and workflow automation.
  • Practical experience of integration‑related delivery involving law firm finance or practice management systems and document management systems, with exposure to platforms such as Aderant, SOS and i Manage.
  • Sufficient technical understanding of APIs, data mappings, integration triggers and system dependencies to configure, test and troubleshoot integration‑enabled workflows and collaborate effectively with technical specialists.
  • Confident client‑facing communication skills, with the ability to hold credible conversations with fee earners, case handlers, business analysts and technical teams.
  • Ability to ask focused questions, clarify gaps, explain configuration options and guide a conversation towards the decisions and information needed to complete the build.
  • Good understanding of legal services terminology, case or matter management processes and the operational environment of a law firm.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, testing and troubleshooting skills, with excellent attention to detail and a commitment to high‑quality, supportable configuration.
  • Ability to produce clear configuration, testing and release documentation, work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple priorities.
  • A genuine interest in the practical application of AI and automation within legal workflows, with enthusiasm for contributing to the development and use of AI‑enabled accelerators.
  • Experience across more than one Clio Operate implementation, practice area or legal work type.
  • Hands‑on experience with Clio Operate document templates, reporting, data migration, solution packaging or environment deployment.
  • Experience configuring or supporting integrations with Aderant, SOS, i Manage, Net Documents, Share Point, Elite, Microsoft 365 or other common legal technology platforms.
  • Technical awareness of SQL, XML, JSON, scripting or IDE‑based extensions.
  • Completion of relevant Clio Operate Modeller or configurator training, or equivalent demonstrable capability.
  • Development & Progression

The role offers scope to deepen Clio Operate expertise, contribute to the development of AI‑enabled solution accelerators and progress over time into more senior configuration and delivery roles.

Progression will be based on demonstrated platform capability, delivery quality, client confidence and contribution to reusable solutions.

Working Model

This is a hybrid role.

A significant proportion of delivery may be completed remotely, but client assignments can require regular on‑site attendance, including a weekly presence where required.

The successful candidate must be able and willing to travel to client sites and work on‑site in line with the needs of each assignment.

The role is not expected to be permanently site‑based, and the balance of remote and on‑site working will vary by client.
