Optimum Student Support training course: Autism and ADHD in Higher Education: Recognising and addressing the barriers through Non‑Medical Helper (NMH) Mentoring and Study Skills Strategies.
Responsibilities
- Work with students to provide strategies for developing the study skills required when studying in higher education, including skills in acquiring, recalling, and retaining information in written and spoken language.
- Assist with memory, organization, attention, and numeracy skills.
Qualifications
- A degree (any subject) and a teaching qualification (Level 7 or above) or a PGCert in Autism.
- Completion of the six National Autistic Society (NAS) online training modules:
- Understanding autism
- Autism and communication
- Autism and sensory experience
- Autism, stress and anxiety
- Autism: supporting families
- Autism and Girls
- Experience in a similar role within the last five years is desirable.
- Understanding of the impact of disabilities in the further/higher education context.
- Ability to work in a way that promotes the safety and wellbeing of children and young people.
- Permission to work in the UK in accordance with the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996.
- Satisfactory references and pre‑employment checks are required.
