Overview

Clear Links Support is recruiting for One-to-One Specialist Mentors to support students with disabilities and mental health conditions studying at City of Glasgow College.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategies to help students manage the impact of their condition or impairment on their academic experience.
  • Help students manage anxiety, develop concentration, time management, prioritise workloads, and create schedules for work-life balance.
  • Develop skills in acquiring, recalling, and retaining information in written and spoken language, and in memory, organisation, attention, and numeracy.
  • Pay and Benefits
  • Pay: Β£28 per hour plus Β£3.38 holiday pay per hour.

  • Role requirements
  • Applicants must have: a degree

AND one of the following

  • Membership of a relevant professional body such as BACP, NCPS, HCPC, BPS, UKCP, COSCA, UMHAN (not exhaustive; please contact us if you have questions about relevant membership).
  • A relevant postgraduate qualification
  • Professional experience supporting individuals with disabilities
  • It is desirable that applicants have experience in a similar role within the last five years.

Applicants should also have an understanding of the impact of disabilities in the further/higher education context.

  • Applicants must be available to provide in-person support at City of Glasgow College.
  • Applicants must be able to work in a way that promotes the safety and wellbeing of children and young people.
  • By the start of employment, the successful candidate must have permission to work in the UK in accordance with the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996.

This post is also subject to satisfactory references, a background check under the PVG Scheme, as well as other applicable pre-employment checks.
