My client is recruiting for an experienced Child Care Solicitor to join their Family, Care & Divorce team in Derby, Derbyshire.
This is an opportunity to join a growing and supportive family department, handling a varied caseload of care proceedings for both privately paying and publicly funded clients. The role would suit a solicitor who is confident working independently and committed to providing high-quality client care.
The Role
• Managing a caseload of care proceedings allocated by the Head of Department or Partners.
• Advising and supporting clients throughout care proceedings.
• Representing and advocating for clients in court and at key meetings.
• Progressing matters efficiently and keeping clients informed of progress and costs.
• Maintaining strong professional relationships with social services, Children's Guardians and other relevant organisations.
• Supervising and supporting junior colleagues where appropriate.
• Maintaining accurate time recording, billing and credit control.
• Ensuring compliance with SRA requirements and relevant regulations.
• Contributing to marketing and business development initiatives.
• Supporting the continued growth and development of the Family department.
The Candidate
• Be a qualified Solicitor with proven experience in Family Care Law.
• Be a member of the Law Society Children Panel.
• Have strong advocacy and communication skills.
• Be confident managing a care proceedings caseload independently.
• Have excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Be resilient and empathetic when dealing with sensitive and challenging matters.
• Have a strong client focused approach.
• Be proactive about professional development, CPD and compliance.
• Be willing and able to support the development of junior colleagues.
