About The Role
We are looking for a Regulatory Affairs Lead to support our commercial and regulatory objectives across the business. The role sits at the intersection of Compliance and Legal/Regulatory, and provides an opportunity for high level exposure internally and externally. You will work closely with Legal, Compliance, Risk and Governance, however this role is focused on advisory, strategic and regulatory liaison work. It would suit a dynamic individual who can think strategically and is capable of working well with a wide range of stakeholders, including senior leadership. Prior financial services regulatory exposure is a must. We are looking for someone who has familiarity with payments and crypto-assets primarily, however knowledge in other broad fintech areas would be helpful. This role is ideal for someone who is keen to be exposed to work in various jurisdictions.
Regulatory Engagement & Relationship Management
- Regulatory liaison: Acting as the main point of contact for routine communications with regulators (e.g., FCA, DNB / AFM, central banks, etc)
- Regulatory enquiries: Drafting and coordinating responses to "Dear CEO" letters, thematic reviews, and ad-hoc regulatory information requests.
- Managing regulatory visits and attending supervisory meetings
- Regulatory rules: As regulators indicate guidance or rules, inform the business promptly, advise on the applicability and assist converting these into business actionable items
Licensing & Reporting
- Licenses: Project-managing and 'holding the pen' on new licence applications and variations of permission by coordinating the necessary operational, financial, and product inputs from the wider business
- Regulatory returns: Overseeing the regulatory reporting schedule and ensuring the timely filing of routine regulatory returns
- Expansion: Conducting initial regulatory feasibility assessments for new markets to determine if licensing or registration is required before escalating to other teams
Horizon Scanning & Advocacy
- Regulatory changes: Tracking the rapidly evolving global regulatory landscape specifically impacting payments, stablecoins, and other fintech areas of interest
- Industry advocacy: Representing the business at industry trade associations, working groups, and roundtable events to advocate for the company's position. Drafting consultation responses, briefing papers, and comment letters to help shape emerging regulatory frameworks in a risk-sensitive, pro-innovation manner
- SMT briefings: Producing reports and briefings for the Board and C-suite on upcoming policy risks, regulatory trajectories, and how they impact the company's broader business strategy
Cross-Functional Advisory & Internal Strategy
- Product support: Translating high-level policy objectives and regulatory expectations into practical, actionable requirements for the Product, Compliance, and Operations (and other) teams
- Internal education: Support fostering a strong regulatory culture by educating internal stakeholders on evolving industry standards and regulatory expectations.
Requirements
- Experience in dealing with regulators and filing regulatory applications within payments and stablecoins, however experience broadly in fintech or related financial services will be considered an advantage
- Strong attention to detail, organisational skills and ability to project-manage multiple tasks
- A proactive, reliable and collaborative approach to work
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, regulated environment

About Clear Junction and the Legal & Regulatory Affairs department
You would be joining a collegiate environment which values work ethic, integrity and passion for our agile way of working. We have ambitious growth plans. The Legal & Regulatory Affairs department is made up of four members currently. It operates on a flat structure with minimal hierarchy. Should the new hire wish to enhance their development, there is flexibility to engage in other adjacent lines of business such as Compliance, AML or wider Risk. We can promise an intellectually challenging environment where you will have an opportunity to develop innovative solutions to novel questions on a daily basis.
