Client Onboarding Analyst Responsibilities:
- Act as the first line of defense for inbound new business prospects, collaborating with Business Development Managers (BDM) and Relationship Managers (RM) on AML, FinCrime, and sanction risk and compliance issues.
- Screen prospective clients for sanctions, PEP exposure, and adverse media to assess risk.
- Conduct initial due diligence on potential new clients and existing clients applying for new products.
- Participate in calls and meetings with BDMs/RMs to evaluate onboarding risks, including direct interactions with clients.
- Work collaboratively with RMs, providing guidance on compliance matters and potential risks.
- Advise and educate business lines on AML/CFT/FinCrime regulations.
- Support the implementation of controls across business units.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation, ensuring an audit trail.
- Assist in developing, maintaining, and implementing sales and compliance policies, procedures, and regulations as needed.
- Suggest improvements to CRM and other tools used by Sales and Marketing, including their integration with other systems.
- Participate in periodic monitoring, transaction screening, and sanction checks as required.
- Notify the Client Onboarding Team Lead of concerns and escalate issues to the second line of defense when appropriate.
Requirements:
- Substantial experience in KYC/KYB, Due Diligence, preferably within fintech or finance sectors.
- Proven risk management experience in similar industries.
- Understanding of risk management frameworks, methodologies, and tools.
- Knowledge of industry regulations and compliance standards.
- Track record in managing risks and implementing risk strategies.
- Experience with company searches and resources like Dow Jones Risk Centre is desirable.
- Ability to collaborate across departments and time zones.
- Sound judgment for decision-making and escalation.
- Capacity to handle high volumes of tasks with attention to detail.
- Professional and tactful communication skills at all organizational levels.
- Knowledge of corporate structures and financial services.
- Desirable: knowledge of payment services and cryptocurrencies.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Degree or equivalent industry-standard qualification is desirable.
