Our client is seeking an experienced Child Care Solicitor to join their growing team in London. This role will involve representing parents, grandparents, other family members, interveners, and children in a wide range of publicly funded child care matters. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality legal services, supporting vulnerable clients, and contributing to the ongoing development of the department.
- Manage a varied caseload of child care matters including Care Orders, Supervision Orders, Emergency Protection Orders, Placement Orders, Adoption Orders, and Child Arrangement Orders.
- Handle Legal Aid applications and CCMS procedures.
- Represent parents, grandparents, family members, and children directly or through CAFCASS-appointed Guardians.
- Defend allegations involving injury, abuse, or neglect.
- Prepare court bundles, witness statements, and supporting documentation.
- Attend conferences, hearings, and undertake advocacy where appropriate.
- Instruct counsel and liaise with external parties as required.
- Provide sensitive and practical advice to vulnerable clients.
- Communicate complex legal matters clearly and professionally.
- Maintain high standards of client care and service delivery.
- Supervise and support junior solicitors, trainees, and paralegals.
- Assist with training and development within the department.
- Contribute to the growth and development of the child care team.
- Build and maintain professional relationships and referral networks.
- Support marketing and business development initiatives to generate new work.
Requirements / Skills / Experience:
- Qualified Solicitor with a current practising certificate.
- Law Society Children Panel Accreditation.
- Minimum 3 years PQE in Child Care Law.
- Strong experience managing publicly funded child care matters.
- Excellent client care, advocacy, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage competing deadlines.
