My client is an independent, director-led accountancy practice supporting business owners and directors across all stages of their business journey, from start-up through to growth, succession and exit planning. They also provide personal tax and financial planning advice, helping clients achieve long-term financial security. As part of an international network, they benefit from strong UK and overseas expertise, supporting both clients and staff.
Purpose
The Financial Controller will take ownership of the firm’s financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, strong financial controls, and compliance with all regulatory requirements. The role will also provide key financial insight to support strategic decision-making and business performance.
Responsibilities
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting
- Maintain robust financial controls and ensure compliance with accounting standards
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Manage cashflow, working capital, and banking relationships
- Coordinate audits and ensure statutory and regulatory compliance
- Provide financial analysis and KPI reporting to senior leadership
- Manage and develop the finance team
- Drive improvements in systems, processes, and reporting efficiency
Requirements
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Strong experience in financial control, reporting, and budgeting
- Proven ability to manage financial processes and teams
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
Desirable
- Experience within a professional services or similar environment
- Experience with process improvement or system implementation projects
