Our client is seeking an experienced Child Care Solicitor to join their growing team in London. This role will involve representing parents, grandparents, other family members, interveners, and children in a wide range of publicly funded child care matters. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality legal services, supporting vulnerable clients, and contributing to the ongoing development of the department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a varied caseload of child care matters including Care Orders, Supervision Orders, Emergency Protection Orders, Placement Orders, Adoption Orders, and Child Arrangement Orders
  • Handle Legal Aid applications and CCMS procedures
  • Represent parents, grandparents, family members, and children directly or through CAFCASS-appointed Guardians
  • Defend allegations involving injury, abuse, or neglect
  • Prepare court bundles, witness statements, and supporting documentation
  • Attend conferences, hearings, and undertake advocacy where appropriate
  • Instruct counsel and liaise with external parties as required
  • Provide sensitive and practical advice to vulnerable clients
  • Communicate complex legal matters clearly and professionally
  • Maintain high standards of client care and service delivery
  • Supervise and support junior solicitors, trainees, and paralegals
  • Assist with training and development within the department
  • Contribute to the growth and development of the child care team
  • Build and maintain professional relationships and referral networks
  • Support marketing and business development initiatives to generate new work

Requirements / Skills / Experience:

  • Qualified Solicitor with a current practising certificate
  • Law Society Children Panel Accreditation
  • Minimum 3 years PQE in Child Care Law
  • Strong experience managing publicly funded child care matters
  • Excellent client care, advocacy, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing deadlines
