An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Plots and New Homes Manager to join my clients highly regarded property development team on a hybrid basis in their Reading offices. This is a great opportunity for a commercially minded senior lawyer to join a leading Development and House Building team and take a key role in managing and growing the New Homes offering.
The ideal candidate for this role will have at least five years' experience in residential development work, ideally including both plot sales and acting for purchasers of new homes. The successful candidate will take ownership of either or both of the following key workstreams:
- Acting for developers in the sale of new homes - including preparing sites for sale (legal handbooks, plot sales packs) and supervising the plot sales conveyancing process.
- Acting for purchasers of new homes - including site appraisals, raising enquiries, preparing precedent reports, and supervising the team handling the conveyancing of individual new homes purchases.
Role, Responsibilities & Skills:
- Proven ability to manage and supervise high-volume plot sales and team members (lawyers and paralegals).
- Strong understanding of the residential development sector, including acting for housebuilders and knowledge of the New Homes Quality Code and consumer codes.
- Experience managing preferred solicitor panels and working in line with CQS and other industry protocols.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Strong technical understanding of site setup, management and infrastructure arrangements, Land Registry requirements and lender expectations.
- Excellent IT skills plus good knowledge of Microsoft Office (including Excel spreadsheets).
- Managing and growing the firm's New Homes offering within the Development and House Building team.
- Supervising plot sales and/or purchaser-side transactions, depending on experience and focus.
- Leading and developing a team of lawyers and paralegals.
- Supporting business development and enhancing existing client relationships.
