My client is seeking a Personal Injury Lawyer, 0-4+ years PQE, to join their well-established and well-known office in Bristol. The team’s expertise includes accidents at work, public liability claims, and road accidents, with a specific focus on cycling claims, industrial disease claims, and beauty treatment claims. The firm is top ranked in both Chambers and Partners UK and The Legal 500. Several team members have also been individually recognised by both legal directories for their expertise. The role:
- Manage and progress personal injury cases for Claimants, with the aim of concluding them efficiently and with the best possible outcome.
- Assist other lawyers with their cases as needed.
- Triage new claims and undertake risk assessments.
- Interview clients, take instructions and prepare witness statements.
- Maintain detailed file notes and records of client interactions and actions taken.
- Advise other departments and teams where needed.
- Handle all claim processes, including form completion, submission, monitoring, valuation, settlement, and billing.
- Comply with all appropriate pre-litigation protocols.
- Respond to all correspondence promptly.
- Deal with funding arrangements with all the appropriate approvals.
- Obtain, review and assess medical records and evidence.
- Instruct and assess experts and Counsel.
- Draft schedules of financial losses.
- Draft claims and other court documents.
- Prepare for and attend case management conferences and court hearings (or instruct Counsel where appropriate).
- Keep clients informed about their cases and current and anticipated costs.
- Report complaints and data protection issues and respond to information requests from supervisors.
- Record time accurately and meet monthly targets.
- Manage costs at the claim’s conclusion, including preparing bills and invoices per accounting procedures.
Requirements:
- A qualified lawyer (0-4 years’ PQE) with experience in personal injury law.
- Familiar with the relevant Personal Injury Protocol, Civil Procedure Rules and relevant legislation.
- A flexible approach towards managing a varied workload.
- IT literate and confident using and adapting to new systems and processes.
- Familiar with using time-recording software.
- Enthusiastic about marketing and business development, particularly social media and networking.
