My client is recruiting for a Paralegal to join their property department in South Essex. Due to internal promotion within the business, my client is seeking an experienced Paralegal. The firm acts as primary agent for one of the UK’s largest private residential freeholders; the successful candidate will be working as part of a busy in-house legal team who specialises in landlord and tenant law and property law. Main functions: • Providing assistance to the Head of Legal (in-house solicitor) and the wider legal team. • Drafting leases, consents and licences on behalf of the fee earners. • General research tasks where required. • Undertaking initial lease reviews and background checks on various projects for the fee earner • Assisting with preparation on litigation matters and liaising between external solicitors and internal parties • Transposing manuscript documents, engrossing documentation, copy typing, preparing files for completion, preparing and distributing standard documentation, uploading court directions, maintaining diaries, dealing with post-completion correspondence and general case management. • Assisting with the invoicing of fees on completed matters. • Assisting with incoming phone calls and queries as part of the wider company. Attributes required: • Strong technical understanding of land/ property law and leasehold contracts • Previous experience working as a legal secretary or Paralegal within a property or leasehold reform department is desirable. • Highly organised. • Good attention to detail and high level of accuracy. • Capable of prioritising workload. • Excellent knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook. • Polite phone manner. • Good interpersonal skills allowing the individual to liaise and correspond with various other teams and departments. • Proactive – actively looks to improve processes.
