My client is currently looking to recruit an experienced Law Costs Draftsperson/Costs Lawyer to join their Central London firm. This is an exciting opportunity for a costs professional who is passionate about producing high-quality, accurate work and wishes to further their career within a reputable and growing firm. As a Law Costs Draftsperson, you will handle a varied and challenging caseload across multiple areas, including personal injury, clinical negligence, commercial litigation, and judicial review. You will be expected to work both independently and collaboratively, preparing detailed and accurate costs documentation and supporting fee earners and clients throughout the assessment process. Key Responsibilities • Preparing Bills of Costs, Budgets, Points of Reply, and Points of Dispute. • Negotiating settlements on behalf of clients and conducting detailed assessments when necessary. • Drafting and reviewing Precedent H, Precedent R, and Precedent S documents. • Advising solicitors and clients on costs recovery, strategy, and budgeting. • Managing a personal caseload efficiently while meeting deadlines and billing targets. • Liaising with fee earners, clients, and opposing parties to ensure smooth progression of cases. About You • Minimum 2 years’ experience working as a Costs Draftsperson or Costs Lawyer within a law firm or specialist costs consultancy. • Strong understanding of the Civil Procedure Rules, Legal Aid Regulations, and case law relating to costs. • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities. • Confident communicator with strong negotiation and drafting skills. • Proficient in CostsMaster, Case Management Systems, and Microsoft Office applications. • Ideally, you will have experience across a range of litigation areas including PI, clinical negligence, and commercial disputes.
