Our client, a well-established Managed Service Provider based in Colchester, is looking to expand their technical team with an experienced IT Support Engineer level 2–3 or IT Systems Engineer. The successful candidate will be technically strong, customer-focused, and comfortable working independently as well as part of a close-knit team.
Responsibilities
- Provide 2nd–3rd line technical support to business customers
- Diagnose and resolve issues at OS, application, server and network level
- Deliver remote and on-site support to client premises when required
- Perform server upgrades, migrations and transitions to Microsoft 365
- Support Windows Server and Desktop operating systems
- Administer Microsoft 365 services including Azure AD, Exchange, Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive
- Configure, maintain and troubleshoot network infrastructure (firewalls, switches, Wi-Fi)
- Assist with hardware installations, repairs and replacements
- Participate in planned migrations, upgrades and project work
- Communicate confidently with end users and stakeholders at director level
- Maintain accurate documentation and follow best-practice processes
- Take part in an out-of-hours on-call rota (low call volume)
Essential Skills & Experience
- Extensive experience within an MSP or IT Solutions Provider environment
- Strong troubleshooting skills with a logical, methodical approach
- Deep knowledge of Windows Server and Desktop OS environments
- Experience with server migrations and Microsoft 365 deployments
- Solid understanding of Azure AD, Exchange (on-prem & M365) and PowerShell
- Experience supporting virtualised environments
- Good understanding of networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing)
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle with business insurance

- NAS & storage solutions (Synology / QNAP, iSCSI)

- MFA, security awareness platforms and compliance standards
