My client is currently looking to recruit a Junior Law Costs Draftsperson/Costs Lawyer to join their Central London firm. This role provides a fantastic opportunity to gain strong expertise in costs work while contributing to the profitability and operations of the costs division. The Role As a Junior Costs Lawyer, you will manage a varied portfolio of costs matters, working under supervision while gradually increasing responsibility. You will be involved in preparing and negotiating bills of costs, attending detailed assessments, and advising both internal and external clients on costs strategy. You’ll also assist with training, process improvement, and knowledge sharing within the team. Key responsibilities will include: • Drafting and preparing bills of costs (preparation and amendments) • Negotiating settlements with opponents • Attending conferences, detailed assessments, and hearings • Advising fee-earning colleagues internally on costs strategy and budgets • Conducting legal research and updating knowledge on costs rules, protocols, and caselaw • Monitoring case progress, deadlines, and costs recovery • Assisting in reviewing and auditing costs work for accuracy and compliance • Contributing to team initiatives to improve processes, templates, and workflow About You We are looking for someone who is methodical, motivated, and has a keen interest in costs law.
