Job Description
My client is looking for a Financial Controller on a part time basis, to join their growing law firm in Brighton, East Sussex.\\n\\nThis role combines hands-on responsibility with strategic influence — working closely with the Board of Directors to deliver key financial insights, ensure compliance, and support the firm’s continued growth.\\n\\nThis is an ideal opportunity for someone commercially minded, detail-oriented, and eager to play a pivotal role in shaping a modern, growing law firm.\\n\\nKey Responsibilities\\n\\n• Oversee the full finance function, including billing, credit control, accounts payable, payroll, management accounts, and financial systems.\\n• Prepare monthly management accounts, P&L statements, and cashflow forecasts; present findings to the Board.\\n• Manage and review the work of the Finance Assistant.\\n• Ensure compliance with SRA (Solicitors Regulation Authority) standards.\\n• Lead on VAT returns, audits, and year-end reporting.\\n• Support strategic planning, budgeting, and process improvement initiatives.\\n• Implement and enhance financial systems and workflows for greater efficiency.\\n\\nAbout You\\n\\n• ACA part-qualified or equivalent.\\n• Proven senior-level finance experience (law firm background preferred but not essential).\\n• Strong commercial acumen and ability to deliver meaningful financial insights.\\n• High level of accuracy, organisation, and attention to detail.\\n• Proficient in Excel and experienced in managing multiple priorities.\\n• Demonstrated success in process improvement and systems implementation.\\n\\nShould you have any questions or wish to apply please do not hesitate to contact Clear Legal Recruitment Limited.\\n\\nPlease Note: Due to the number of applications we receive we may be unable to respond to every application directly.
