Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Costs Draftsperson / Costs Lawyer to join their London, Greater London office. This is an excellent opportunity for a specialist costs professional with strong legal aid experience, particularly within family law, to join a well-established and growing team. The successful candidate will play a key role in maximising cost recovery, managing complex legal aid billing matters, and supporting colleagues with technical costs advice and best practice.

The Role

  • Preparing and submitting legal aid bills, including fixed fee, exceptional case and high-cost case claims
  • Managing CCMS submissions and ensuring compliance with Legal Aid Agency requirements
  • Preparing and submitting supporting documentation and cost bundles
  • Drafting interim and final private client bills of costs
  • Advising on costs recovery strategies and negotiating costs settlements
  • Serving bills in accordance with procedural requirements and costs protocols
  • Liaising with fee earners, counsel, chambers and third parties regarding costs recovery
  • Monitoring recoverable disbursements and ensuring claims are submitted promptly
  • Supporting file closure processes and related administration
  • Providing guidance and training to colleagues on costs matters and best practice
  • Keeping up to date with developments in legal aid funding and costs legislation
