My client is recruiting for a Complex Crime Paralegal or Legal Assistant to join their Manchester team. The successful candidate will assist Solicitors and Advocates in preparing cases for court. There is also the potential for the successful candidate to be considered for a training contract. The firm have over 15 national offices that comprised of more than 250 members of staff. Roles and Responsibilities · Assist all Advocates throughout all stages of case preparation; · Administratively manage a case load of files under the supervision of Solicitors and Advocates including drafting letters to clients, courts and third parties, taking clients instructions, preparing statements, applications, written representations, and other legal documents; · Accurately time record for all work carried out on the case management system; · Ensuring standards of files are met in accordance with the Office Manual and Lexcel standards; · Provide the highest level of customer service; · Undertake legal research and instruct experts when required; · Undertaking a range of continuing professional development (CPD) activities (if applicable); Person Specification · Police Station Accreditation is highly desirable but not essential; · Experience in case working within either a criminal solicitors office or a barristers’ chambers; · Ideally have experience of handling own caseload of criminal cases and in particular complex crime cases; · A legal qualification such as LPC, BAR or CILEX would be desirable but not essential, a Training Contract would be available in the future for the right candidate; · Good communicator in both written and spoken English; · Good understanding of client care requirements and a commitment to legal aid; · Must be IT literate and be willing to learn; Benefits · The ability to earn up to 30 days of holiday with years of service (standard holiday packages start at 25 days plus all bank holidays); · Additional paid celebration day to use as you would like (such as a birthday); · Ability to purchase a further 5 days of holiday each year; · Discretionary additional holiday days given at Christmas (up to a maximum of 2 days); · Flexible working schemes available to all employees; · Private medical health care with the option to add optical and dental care; · Performance related bonus, 10% of any profit costs over 3x your annual salary · Cycle to work scheme, including e-bikes; · Unlimited access to online based training, structured regulatory checks and weekly ‘top tips’ to enhance and support remote working; Should you have any questions or wish to apply please do not hesitate to contact Clear Legal Recruitment Limited.
