Our client is seeking an experienced Child Care Solicitor to join their team in Luton, Bedfordshire. This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor looking to join a well-regarded team with an existing caseload available from a departing solicitor. The successful candidate will manage a varied publicly funded child care caseload while undertaking advocacy and contributing to the continued growth and development of the department. The role offers a hybrid working model combining home, office, and court attendance.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a varied caseload of publicly funded child care matters independently
- Advise and represent parents, family members, and children in care proceedings and related family matters
- Handle Legal Aid matters and manage CCMS procedures efficiently
- Undertake advocacy at court hearings where required
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on the case management system
- Conduct regular file reviews and ensure compliance with firm and regulatory procedures
- Progress matters efficiently while maintaining high standards of client care
- Submit interim payments and billing claims to the Legal Aid Agency where appropriate
- Interview and advise clients sensitively and professionally
- Provide practical and clear legal advice throughout all stages of proceedings
- Maintain strong relationships with clients and third parties
- Keep up to date with developments in child care and family law
- Participate in networking and business development activities
- Contribute to the continued growth and reputation of the department
Requirements / Skills / Experience
- Qualified Solicitor with a current practising certificate
- Accredited Law Society Children Panel Member
- Minimum 2-3 years PQE in Child Care / Family Law
- Strong experience managing own caseload independently
- Working knowledge of the CCMS portal and Legal Aid procedures
- Advocacy experience
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
