Our client is seeking an experienced Child Care Solicitor to join their team in Luton, Bedfordshire. This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor looking to join a well‑regarded team with an existing caseload available from a departing solicitor. The successful candidate will manage a varied publicly funded child care caseload while undertaking advocacy and contributing to the continued growth and development of the department. The role offers a hybrid working model combining home, office, and court attendance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a varied caseload of publicly funded child care matters independently
  • Advise and represent parents, family members, and children in care proceedings and related family matters
  • Handle Legal Aid matters and manage CCMS procedures efficiently
  • Undertake advocacy at court hearings where required
  • Maintain accurate and up-to‑date records on the case management system
  • Conduct regular file reviews and ensure compliance with firm and regulatory procedures
  • Progress matters efficiently while maintaining high standards of client care
  • Submit interim payments and billing claims to the Legal Aid Agency where appropriate
  • Interview and advise clients sensitively and professionally
  • Provide practical and clear legal advice throughout all stages of proceedings
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients and third parties
  • Keep up to date with developments in child care and family law
  • Participate in networking and business development activities
  • Contribute to the continued growth and reputation of the department

Requirements / Skills / Experience

  • Qualified Solicitor with a current practising certificate
  • Accredited Law Society Children Panel Member
  • Minimum 2-3 years PQE in Child Care / Family Law
  • Strong experience managing own caseload independently
  • Working knowledge of the CCMS portal and Legal Aid procedures
  • Advocacy experience
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
