Our client is seeking a Litigation Solicitor to join their reputable and growing team in Birmingham, West Midlands. This is an excellent opportunity to join an ambitious and progressive law firm with a strong reputation across the region and nationally. The successful candidate will manage a varied civil litigation caseload while working within a supportive environment that encourages professional development and long-term progression. The role offers exposure to a broad range of contentious matters and would suit a solicitor who enjoys autonomy, client interaction, and the opportunity to contribute to the continued growth of the department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a varied caseload of civil litigation matters from instruction through to conclusion
- Handle disputes including commercial and residential landlord and tenant matters, debt recovery, building disputes, breach of contract claims, and general civil litigation
- Assist with a smaller volume of personal injury matters where required
- Undertake pre-action work and progress matters in accordance with the Civil Procedure Rules
- Draft pleadings, witness statements, applications, schedules of loss, and court documentation
- Prepare matters for hearings, negotiations, and settlement discussions
- Undertake advocacy where appropriate
- Take client instructions and provide practical, commercially focused legal advice
- Liaise with clients, third parties, courts, and stakeholders professionally and efficiently
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through high standards of service delivery
- Support the ongoing growth and development of the litigation department
- Identify opportunities for cross-referral and new business generation
- Assist in maintaining and enhancing the firm’s strong reputation within the market
- Manage time recording, billing, WIP, and cash collection effectively
- Identify and manage legal and financial risk in line with firm procedures
Requirements / Skills / Experience:
- Qualified Solicitor with 2+ years PQE
- Strong experience within civil litigation and dispute resolution
- Good working knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules
- Ability to manage a varied caseload independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent communication, drafting, and organisational skills
- Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office and case management systems
