My client is expanding their tax practice and is seeking an experienced Tax Manager (ACA, ACCA, CTA or ATT qualified) to join the team. This role can be based from any of the following offices: Carlisle, Cockermouth, Dumfries, Glasgow, Hexham, Kendal, Leeds, Manchester, Maryport, Newcastle, Northallerton, Penrith, Settle, Skipton, Whitehaven, Wigton or Workington.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to specialise in Private Client Tax or Corporate Tax, depending on experience and career aspirations.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a portfolio of tax clients, delivering high-quality advisory and compliance services.
- Oversee preparation and review of tax returns and computations for individuals, partnerships and/or companies.
- Provide expert tax planning and advisory services, including inheritance tax, succession planning, corporate reorganisations and share schemes (depending on specialism).
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a key point of contact.
- Manage, mentor and develop junior members of the tax team, reviewing work and providing technical guidance.
- Monitor budgets, billing and profitability of assignments.
- Support Partners in business development, including attending networking events and contributing to proposals.
- Ensure compliance with UK tax legislation and liaise directly with HMRC on complex matters.
Requirements
- ACA, ACCA, CTA or ATT qualified with significant post-qualification tax experience.
- Proven track record in either Private Client Tax or Corporate Tax.
- Strong technical knowledge and the ability to handle complex tax matters.
- Excellent client-facing and relationship management skills.
- Experience of supervising and developing staff.
- Strong commercial awareness and the ability to identify opportunities for added value.
- A collaborative leader, able to inspire and support colleagues.
