Our client is seeking a Legal Secretary or Paralegal to join their Conveyancing team based in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with legal support experience who is looking to build or develop a career within residential property law. Prior conveyancing experience is not essential, as full training and support will be provided. The firm is a well-established, multi-service practice advising both individuals and businesses. Purpose of the Role

To provide secretarial and paralegal support to fee earners within the Conveyancing department, ensuring matters are progressed efficiently and clients receive a high standard of service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing administrative and secretarial support to the conveyancing team
  • Preparing and typing correspondence and legal documentation
  • Opening, maintaining, and closing client files
  • Answering telephone calls and dealing with client enquiries professionally
  • Liaising with clients, estate agents, mortgage lenders, and other third parties
  • Updating and maintaining records on the firm’s case management system
  • Assisting fee earners with day-to-day progression of conveyancing matters
  • Managing diaries, appointments, and key dates
  • Ensuring all confidential information is handled discreetly

Candidate Profile / Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a legal support role (Legal Secretary, Legal Assistant, or Paralegal) is essential
  • Conveyancing experience is not required
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Confident communicator, both verbally and in writing
  • Comfortable managing a varied workload and working to deadlines
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word
  • A proactive and team-focused approach
