Our client is seeking an experienced Legal Secretary to join their in-house legal team in Southend-On-Sea, Essex. This role will support a busy department specialising in landlord and tenant and property law, providing comprehensive administrative and secretarial support while contributing to both day-to-day case management and wider business projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide full secretarial support to the Head of Legal and wider team
  • Audio typing, copy typing, and transcription of legal documents
  • Draft, prepare, and engross legal documentation for service
  • Open new files, maintain accurate records, and prepare files for completion
  • Manage diaries, deadlines, and court directions
  • Support day-to-day case management including post-completion correspondence
  • Liaise with solicitors, leaseholders, and internal departments to progress matters efficiently
  • Act as a professional first point of contact for incoming calls and queries
  • Assist with high-volume legal projects, including lease variations and related transactions
  • Support billing processes and invoicing on completed matters
  • Undertake legal and general research tasks as required
  • Archive and maintain files in line with company procedures

Requirements / Skills / Experience

  • Previous experience as a Legal Secretary, ideally within property or landlord and tenant law
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a varied workload
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Proficient audio typing skills
  • Strong IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Excellent communication skills with a professional telephone manner
