Base Pay and Role Overview

A Top 40 firm of Chartered Accountants is seeking a Semi Senior Accountant based in their Colchester office. The role involves working with owner‑managed businesses, individual and corporate clients across the UK and overseas.

Key Responsibilities

• Work with owner-managed businesses, including sole traders, partnerships, and companies.
• Prepare accounts and financial statements for clients.
• Process client records accurately and efficiently.
• Prepare management accounts to meet client needs.
• Complete and check VAT returns for accuracy and compliance.
• Support audit pack preparation and planning.
• Address basic client queries and provide support as required.
• Carry out administrative and ad‑hoc tasks as needed.

Key Skills and Competencies

• Experience in an accountancy role, preferably in a practice environment, with some audit exposure.
• AAT qualification or starting ACCA studies.
• Strong attention to detail and a proactive client‑service approach.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
• Analytical and problem‑solving skills with a data‑driven decision‑making ability.
• Proactive and results‑oriented focus on delivering value.
• Collaborative team player.
• High level of confidentiality, integrity and professionalism.
