An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Accounts Manager to join a well-established and highly respected accountancy practice based in Peterborough.

The Role: As an Accounts Manager, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of clients, acting as their trusted advisor and providing a combination of accounting, tax and business advisory services. You will work closely with business owners and individuals, developing strong client relationships while overseeing the delivery of high-quality compliance and advisory work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a diverse portfolio of clients, building strong and lasting relationships.
  • Act as a trusted advisor, understanding client objectives and providing tailored business and financial advice.
  • Organise and attend client meetings, identifying opportunities to add value and support client growth.
  • Oversee the preparation and review of annual accounts, tax returns and advisory projects.
  • Ensure all work is completed accurately, compliantly and within agreed deadlines.
  • Manage workflow and staff allocations across the team.
  • Review work completed by junior team members and provide ongoing support and mentoring.
  • Assist in delivering a high standard of client service and contribute to the continued success of the practice.

Skills & Experience:

  • ACA, ACCA or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Previous experience within an accountancy practice environment in a similar managerial role.
  • Strong technical knowledge of accounting principles, personal taxation and financial management.
  • Audit experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
  • Experience reviewing accounts and tax work.
  • Strong client relationship management and communication skills.
  • Proficient in accountancy and tax software packages.
  • Organised, proactive and able to manage multiple deadlines effectively.
  • A collaborative approach with a passion for developing junior team members.
