Our client is seeking a Finance Officer to join them part time, 20 hours a week on a permanent basis, in Southall, London. This role will be 20 hours per week in Term times and 1 week in school Holidays.
Main purpose of the role
- To provide efficient management of the school finances including budget and other administrative functions.
- Produce monthly budget reports highlighting any discrepancies or over/under spends.
- Support the Headteacher, SBM and Governing board.
- Produce annual budget with support of the bursarial team.
- Promote safeguarding and welfare among the children in the school.
Responsibilities
- Place order and pay bills, ensuring delivery is to the correct person.
- Provide financial advice and support to senior leadership.
- Act in accordance with the Schools Financial Value Statement (SVFS) and Ealing Financial Handbook guidance at all times.
- Monitor expenditure and ensure effective budgetary controls.
- Ensure procedures are followed for all deliveries, ensuring they are verified and signed for.
- Search for procurement ensuring best value for the school alongside SBM.
- Monitor staff salary report form and input into accounting software.
- Assist with school audit.
- Responsible for bank reconciliation checking statement against income and expenditure.
- Ensure all invoices are paid in a timely manner.
- Manage the school's cashflow and maximise the school's interest within financial, legal, and regulatory constraints.
- Any other financial or administrative task that the Headteacher may need help with.
Desired Knowledge
- GCSE in English and Maths.
- Proven experience in Finance, Human Resources or similar field or qualification.
- Experience of managing multiple projects.
- Good working knowledge of FMS and/or SIMS.
- Experience with MS Packages e.g. Excel.
- Ideal able interested in studying towards a CSBM/DSBM qualification.
- Must be able to hold an enhanced DBS check.
