My client is seeking a Finance Manager to join their growing law firm in central London.
The successful individual will lead the firms Accounts team and take control of the finance function. You will be a qualified or part-qualified accountant, ideally with experience in a law firm. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic growing practice and be part of the management team that will take the firm forward.
Responsibilities will include:
β’ Supervise 2 cashiers and 1 billing clerk, managing daily workloads and acting as the first point of contact for support and queries.
β’ Oversee the cashiering inbox, ensuring tasks are completed, acting as a point of escalation for queries, and providing regular reports.
β’ Collaborate closely with the Finance Director on projects aimed at streamlining the cashiering and billing processes, as well as reporting and bank reconciliation.
β’ Manage the purchase ledger, reconcile supplier statements, credit cards, and counsel fee notes.
β’ Address queries from fee earners, support staff, and the bank.
β’ Developing relationship with all of our experts (including Chambers) to ensure that fee notes are requested across all matters regularly.
β’ Regular review of WIP, along with fee notes requested, ensuring that these are compared to the fees estimated to the client, and communicate with the fee earners when they come close to the limit so they can manage their clients.
β’ Monthly case status updates to each client that is being charged hourly to ensure full transparency per Legal Ombudsman guidelines.
β’ Raising invoices and sending these to clients, along with chasers where appropriate.
β’ Attendance at the billing meetings to update accounts across all matters, in lieu of the fee earners.
β’ Actively managing the firm's debt position, which includes following up with clients for payment
Qualifications and Experience:
β’ A minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role.
β’ Ability to work to deadlines/targets, prioritise and deliver effective solutions.
β’ Ability to work well as part of a team and on your own initiative with a positive attitude.
β’ Strong analytical skills with an eye for detail.
β’ Excellent organisation and time management skills.
β’ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
β’ Excellent IT skills and effective use of Case Management and Time Recording Systems.
β’ Professional and effective communication with individual and business contacts.
