Are you a proactive, detail-oriented risk and governance professional with a passion for operational excellence? Clear Group is looking for a Risk & Governance Manager to support Retail’s COO and business teams in maintaining strong operational governance, first-line risk management, and customer outcome oversight across UK Retail. This is a high-impact role, ensuring that controls, frameworks, and governance disciplines are robust, risks are proactively managed, and governance forums operate effectively. You’ll coordinate risk, compliance, and resilience activities across the division, enabling safe, consistent, and accountable operations. You’ll also provide insights from MI and customer data to help shape decisions, remedial actions, and operational improvements.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Maintain and continuously develop Retail’s operational resilience framework and business continuity plans
- Support scenario testing, lessons learned, dependency mapping, and resilience action plans
- Update and maintain Retail’s Operational Risk Register, ensuring risks are clearly articulated, assessed, and mitigated
- Coordinate first-line controls and remedial actions arising from audits, assurance reviews, or regulatory requirements
- Serve as secretariat and delivery lead for the Retail Customer & Conduct Committee
- Track actions relating to Consumer Duty, customer outcomes, fairness, and vulnerability
- Partner with MI & Insight teams to interpret data and identify required remedial or preventative actions
- Drive completion of governance actions, maintaining calendars, assurance schedules, and reporting packs
- Collaborate with Group Compliance, Risk, Operations, IT, Claims, and Proposition teams to ensure Retail controls align with group standards
- Provide regular risk, conduct, and governance reporting to the Retail COO and leadership teams
Who We’re Looking For
- Strong experience in operational risk, governance, or first-line compliance within insurance or financial services
- Understanding of FCA expectations, including SYSC, Operational Resilience, and Consumer Duty
- Experience maintaining risk registers, governance frameworks, and control environments
- Ability to interpret MI and customer outcome data to identify high-risk trends and required actions
- Strong communication and influencing skills to engage senior stakeholders effectively
- Experience supporting operational resilience programmes
- Experience running governance committees, reporting cycles, or coordinating cross-functional assurance activities
- Knowledge of broking operations, operational excellence, customer journeys, or insurance distribution chains
