We’re looking for a Real Estate (Property) Underwriter / Assistant to join our UK Retail Specialisms team, supporting a profitable commercial property delegated authority portfolio.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience in commercial property or real estate insurance who wants to develop their technical underwriting expertise and gain exposure to delegated authority underwriting in a fast-moving, growth-focused environment.
You’ll work closely with underwriters, brokers and insurer partners, supporting the underwriting of commercial property risks while developing your understanding of portfolio management, insurer relationships and underwriting performance.
About the Team
You’ll join our specialist Property Underwriting team, supporting the continued growth of our delegated authority proposition.
The team is responsible for underwriting commercial property risks across a profitable binder portfolio, balancing technical underwriting discipline with strong commercial awareness. Working closely with brokers and insurer partners, the team plays an important role in delivering sustainable growth while maintaining high underwriting standards.
It’s a collaborative environment where people are trusted to take ownership, develop their knowledge and contribute to the success of the wider business.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll support the underwriting and administration of commercial property risks while developing your technical expertise and understanding of delegated authority arrangements.
Responsibilities include:
- Supporting the underwriting of commercial property risks in line with delegated authority agreements.
- Producing quotations, policy documentation, renewals and mid-term adjustments.
- Maintaining accurate underwriting records and bordereaux data.
- Supporting portfolio performance through accurate and timely underwriting activity.
- Building strong relationships with brokers, insurer partners and colleagues.
- Ensuring regulatory and compliance requirements are met at all times.
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes, quality and efficiency.
- Continuing to develop technical property underwriting knowledge.
What We’re Looking For
You’ll already have some experience within commercial property, real estate insurance or a similar underwriting environment and be looking to build a long‑term career in underwriting.
You’ll likely have:
- Experience within Commercial Property or Real Estate Insurance.
- An understanding of commercial property risks and underwriting fundamentals.
- Strong attention to detail and confidence working with data and documentation.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
- A proactive approach and willingness to learn.
- Awareness of regulatory requirements and customer outcomes.
Experience of Acturis or similar insurance platforms would be beneficial.
Exposure to delegated authority, binders or bordereaux reporting would also be advantageous but is not essential.
