A growing building automation and controls company is expanding its presence across Europe and is looking for an experienced BMS Project Manager to join its team in Milan. The role will focus on the delivery of large-scale BMS and building automation projects within the data centre sector, working with major clients, contractors and engineering teams to deliver complex automation solutions from project award through to completion and handover. This is an excellent opportunity for a Project Manager with a strong BMS/controls background who wants to work on technically challenging mission-critical projects while being part of a growing organisation with opportunities for long-term progression.

Responsibilities

  • Take overall responsibility for the successful delivery of BMS and building automation projects.
  • Manage projects from design and procurement through installation, commissioning and final handover.
  • Act as the main point of contact for clients, main contractors, consultants and subcontractors.
  • Coordinate BMS engineers, controls engineers, subcontractors and site teams.
  • Manage project programmes, budgets, resources and commercial performance.
  • Review project specifications, drawings, designs and technical documentation.
  • Coordinate BMS installation, panel manufacturing, controls integration and commissioning activities.
  • Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with client specifications, programme and quality requirements.
  • Manage project risks, variations, change orders and technical issues.
  • Attend client and project meetings and provide regular progress updates.
  • Work closely with engineering teams to resolve technical and design challenges.
  • Oversee testing, commissioning, integrated systems testing and final project documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant health & safety, quality and data centre standards.
  • Support the development of project processes and contribute to the company's continued growth across the European data centre market.

Desired Experience

  • Proven experience working as a BMS Project Manager, Controls Project Manager or Automation Project Manager.
  • Strong understanding of BMS, HVAC controls and building automation systems.
  • Experience delivering complex commercial, industrial or critical infrastructure projects.
  • Data centre experience is highly desirable.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills.
  • Experience managing subcontractors, suppliers and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Commercial awareness with experience managing project budgets and variations.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings, specifications and project documentation.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to manage client relationships.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites when required.
  • Fluent Italian and good English would be highly advantageous.
