Nursery Assistant – Lunch Cover
Kiddi Caru Day Nursery and Preschool, Downend Road
Part of Grandir UK
Hours: Monday–Friday, 11am–3pm
Salary: £10.85–£12.71 per hour
(Depending on experience and qualifications, with regular pay reviews)

Our Kiddi Caru Day Nursery and Preschool in Downend is looking for a caring and enthusiastic Nursery Assistant – Lunch Cover to join our friendly team.
You’ll help support the children during lunchtime, assisting with meals, routines and activities, while helping to create a happy, safe and welcoming environment.

About Our Nursery
All the rooms at our nursery are bright and airy, with age-appropriate resources that create an inclusive environment and support independent exploration. The colours are calm and natural, with high-quality wooden resources to encourage open-ended play.
Downstairs, the Bumblebees room for babies and the Butterflies room for toddlers both have free-flow access to their own gardens with decking and grass, allowing safe outdoor exploration. Upstairs, the Dragonflies room for preschool-aged children offers activities that develop essential skills for primary school, supporting cognitive, social, and emotional growth.
We also have a sensory room accessible to all ages, providing a calming space to explore different sensory experiences. Transitions between rooms happen when children are ready, ensuring each child feels safe, nurtured, and inspired.
Our three gardens offer a variety of engaging outdoor environments, with age-appropriate equipment like bikes, tyres, and other resources to support physical development in all weathers.
Location and Travel
Our nursery is conveniently located just a short walk from local shops, including the supermarket, post office, and cafés.
With excellent transport links and bus stops right outside, we are an ideal choice for people commuting from Barley Close, Staple Hill, Fishponds, Mangotsfield, and Emersons Green.
What You Will Be Doing
- Promote high standards of quality within the nursery
- Support and supervise playroom staff with their day-to-day duties
- Deploy staff appropriately to ensure that the required standards are delivered and maintained within the rooms
- Ensure the effective implementation of the nursery keycarer procedures and allocate children to keycarers appropriately
- Ensure that practice and provision in the nursery meet the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
- Provide professional, relevant feedback to parents and carers about their child
- Promote the nursery to current parents and potential customers
- Develop open and positive working relationships with staff
- Ensure that all staff develop and maintain friendly, professional relationships with parents and carers
