The employee will frequently work in different areas of the kitchen and cafeteria performing their duties.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent education and experience.
- Strong customer service and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with students, coworkers, and school staff.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, walk, and handle objects, serving utensils, equipment controls, and food.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage frequent interruptions.
- Capable of working independently and efficiently prioritizing work activities.
- Tactful when interacting with others.
- Ability to follow instructions, respond to supervisor guidance, and take responsibility for actions.
- Knowledge of cooking procedures and equipment is a plus.
- Proficiency in English, including spelling, grammar, and composition.
- Ability to pass a background check and physical ability exam (lifting 30 lbs) prior to hire.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Complete tasks as assigned by the Department Head, Kitchen Manager, and Food & Nutrition Director.
- Prepare food following standardized recipes and proper food safety protocols.
- Safely operate kitchen equipment and maintain sanitary work conditions.
- Clean and maintain food service equipment and facilities.
- Serve food in accordance with portion sizes outlined by state guidelines, ensuring food safety.
- Foster positive relationships with students and staff.
- Assist with record-keeping and inventory management.
Receive training for kitchen tasks, progressing through levels as determined by the Kitchen Manager, and complete tasks efficiently and on time.
- Maintain high ethical standards and confidentiality when handling student, staff, or parent information.
- Adhere to district policies and School Food and Nutrition program guidelines.
- Ensure regular attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
