Are you experienced in debt recovery and passionate about resolving complex customer issues? We’re looking for a Water Debt and Disconnections Expert to join our team in Sale, Manchester. In this pivotal role, you’ll be responsible for managing the resolution of customer issues that impact debt collection on water accounts. Where resolution isn’t possible, you’ll oversee and manage the temporary isolation and/or the permanent disconnection of the supply, ensuring all actions are compliant with legal and regulatory standards.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Coordinate pre-disconnection site visits with third-party providers.
  • Review site visit data and ensure accurate, actionable insights are captured.
  • Support site agents during visits to balance customer needs with debt recovery goals.
  • Manage the disconnection process with a customer‑centric approach, safeguarding vulnerable customers and shared residential supplies.
  • Issue pre‑ and post‑disconnection notices to customers and wholesalers.
  • Provide timely instructions to agents on the day of disconnection.
  • Oversee reconnection processes for customers who settle overdue balances.
  • Handle disputes, especially from vulnerable or financially distressed customers.
  • Ensure all activities comply with GDPR, regulatory standards, and internal quality policies.

Your Experience

  • Proven background in debt recovery or collections.
  • Experience in the utilities sector.
  • Skilled in complex dispute resolution.
  • Familiarity with third-party collaboration for debt recovery.
  • Strong understanding of utility disconnection processes and legal frameworks.
  • Knowledge of B2B regulatory requirements.
  • Proficient in using CRM and lead management systems.
