Our key client is seeking a senior ecology leader to join their team in England. This role offers flexibility to appoint at either Technical Director or Associate Director level, depending on experience. You will inherit an established function with growth plans, support major projects, and play a key role in driving innovation and expanding commercial impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and technical direction for the EcoSouth ecology team.
- Drive delivery of large-scale projects—especially onshore wind and grid infrastructure—from feasibility through construction.
- Develop technical specialisms (e.g., EIA, HRA, species or habitat expertise) and coach team members.
- Expand the consultancy’s commercial reach by attracting new clients and workstreams (renewables and beyond).
- Enhance the business profile through thought leadership, technical innovation, and industry engagement.
- Manage budgets, support business development, and contribute to the senior leadership team.
About You
- Significant experience in ecology, ideally with a client-facing and commercial focus.
- Solid technical background in ecological assessment and reporting (EIA, HRA, etc.).
- Track record of delivering or leading large-scale projects.
- Leadership qualities: supportive, empowering, and able to grow others.
- Innovative, independent, and motivated to make an impact in nature and climate.
