The Role
As a Senior Ecologist, you\’ll be a leading member for ornithology collaborating closely with the wider Ecology group. You\’ll lead critical projects, mentor upcoming talent, and take ownership of business development. Your role will involve:
- Leading ecological surveys and assessments, Preliminary Ecology Appraisals, Ecological Impact Assessments, Habitat Regulations Assessments and Mitigation Strategies.
- Scoping, designing, and managing projects across various sectors, ensuring successful outcomes.
- Building solid client relationships, helping to grow your portfolio and secure new opportunities.
- Collaborate cross-discipline in a fast paced but balanced environment.
- Mentoring junior ecologists and fostering a positive, growth-focused team culture.
- Degree qualified in a relevant discipline
- Ideally CIEEM member working towards Chartership
- Ornithology specialism experience scoping and undertaking breeding and non-breeding bird surveys for large sites
- Stakeholder engagement with Natural England
- Design of mitigation strategies
- Understanding of the legislative and planning policy framework
- Survey skills including extended Phase I/UKHabs
- Experience liaising with clients, statutory bodies, and LPAs
- Report writing and reviewing capabilities
- Project management skills: leading, mentoring, and making sure projects are delivered on time and within budget, all while exceeding client expectations
- A proven track record in business development and securing your own projects
- An approach that resonates with our values and fosters collaborative working
- A full UK driving licence
