The Role – Senior Ecologist

As a Senior Consultant, you’ll be the go-to expert for leading your own exciting projects. Your role will involve:

  • Conducting a variety of ecological surveys, including protected species surveys and habitat assessments (UKHab).
  • Preparing comprehensive ecological reports, such as Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA) and Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) assessments.
  • Advising clients on ecological constraints, opportunities, and mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborating with landscape planning and arboriculture teams to deliver integrated project solutions.
  • Supporting the preparation of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) and planning applications.
  • Liaising with clients, regulators, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Contributing to fee proposals and tender documents.
  • A degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in ecological consultancy or equivalent experience.
  • Strong knowledge of UK wildlife legislation and planning policies.
  • Proven experience in conducting and leading a variety of ecological surveys.
  • Working knowledge of UKHab survey techniques and Statutory BNG.
  • Desired experience using GIS to produce highly accurate digital outputs (QGIS).
  • Excellent report-writing skills with attention to detail.
  • Membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) or working towards it.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • A full UK driving license and willingness to travel to project sites.
