Are you an experienced ecologist with strong bat mitigation and EPS licensing experience looking for a role where you can take more ownership of projects and shape how ecological solutions are delivered?
We're looking for a Principal Ecologist with a strong background in bat ecology, including a bat survey licence held for a minimum of 3 years, proven experience in bat mitigation design and delivery, and either recent Named Ecologist experience or Accredited Agent experience with written references to attain Named Ecologist status.
You'll play a key role in leading projects, supporting colleagues, and delivering practical, high-quality solutions to complex ecological challenges.
- Lead and manage ecological projects from inception to completion
- Deliver and oversee bat surveys, impact assessments, and mitigation strategies
- Produce and review high-quality technical reports
- Support and mentor junior ecologists
- Contribute to project planning, tenders, and client relationships
- Work collaboratively across multi-disciplinary teams
About you:
- Strong experience in UK habitat and protected species assessment
- Proven experience in bat surveys, mitigation design, and implementation
- Bat survey and/or mitigation licence (highly desirable)
- Sound knowledge of legislation, particularly EPS licensing
- Strong report writing and technical review skills
- Experience managing projects and, ideally, people
- Relevant degree in ecology or related discipline
- Proactive, flexible approach with strong attention to detail
