We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Associate Ecologist to play a key role in developing the Leeds office and building strong client relationships across Yorkshire and beyond. The Role

  • Drive the growth of the ecology pipeline for Yorkshire and beyond.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring excellent service and repeat business.
  • Lead and manage exciting, complex projects from inception to completion.
  • Mentor and inspire junior team members, building a strong, skilled ecology team.
  • Engage in business development, attending networking events to expand opportunities across multiple disciplines.
  • Collaborate closely with Directors and other regional leads to deliver integrated environmental solutions.

About You

  • You’re an experienced ecologist who enjoys both leading teams and building lasting client partnerships.
  • You’re confident managing high-level projects, have strong technical expertise, and thrive on finding solutions that balance client needs with environmental priorities.
  • Degree in ecology, biological sciences, or related discipline.
  • Full member of CIEEM (or working towards Chartership).
  • Strong ecological survey skills (UKHab, protected species, botanical).
  • Experience managing projects, budgets, and teams.
  • Ability to produce and review high-quality ecological reports, including PEAs, EIAs, BNG reports, and HRAs.
  • Excellent understanding of UK legislation and planning policy.
  • Strong communication skills, able to liaise effectively with statutory bodies and LPAs.
  • A track record in business development and networking.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • At least one protected species licence.
  • Experience in EIA and HRA processes.
