What will you be doing?
You will be joining the highly respected team to assist in the delivery of onsite environmental and ecological auditing and an advisory role mainly on renewable energy and road infrastructure projects across Scotland. You will work closely with colleagues, and industry partners in other technical disciplines, to assist in the delivery of project work.
Key Responsibilities
- Field work logistics & baseline data review
- Compilation of regular site reports
- Habitats Regulations Appraisals, Environmental Management Plans and Species Protection Plans for specific tasks
- Provide onsite guidance to contractors & toolbox talks
- Collaborate with project stakeholders
- Managing and communicating with key stakeholders whilst encouraging a high level of environmental protection
- Using Microsoft Word and Excel, digital photography and infield technology
- Operate in a variety of environments such as remote areas or operational construction sites
- Supporting office management and administrative tasks
The delivery of the ECoW role for long and short term projects may require working long hours, away from home between Monday-Friday which are available on overtime or returned time on TOIL.
Key Competencies
At least 2 or more years proven Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) or Ecology experience
- Under/postgraduate degree in Ecology, Environmental Management or a related discipline
- Experience of working under Scottish and/or UK legislation
- Membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) and/or of the Association of Environmental and Ecological Clerks of Works (AEECoW)
- Confident in habitat and protected species ecology
- An understanding of current environmental legislation, policy trends, guidance and regulatory frameworks
- The ability to work as a team and individually
- Good time management and record keeping
- A full UK drivers licence
- The ability to operate a 4Γ4 vehicle safely is desirable.
