CleanTech People are recruiting for an experienced Payments Officer to join a busy Adult Social Care service on a temporary basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and customer-focused professional to support the delivery of Direct Payments services, helping service users maintain choice, control, independence and flexibility in how their support funding is managed.

The role involves providing advice and guidance to Direct Payment recipients, supporting financial monitoring activities, reviewing accounts and ensuring funding is being used appropriately in line with relevant legislation and service requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide advice, guidance and support to Direct Payment recipients, promoting independence and choice.
  • Support service users with queries relating to Direct Payments and funding arrangements.
  • Undertake financial monitoring and auditing of Direct Payment accounts.
  • Review expenditure and identify any concerns, risks or potential recovery requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports and financial information.
  • Work collaboratively with Adult Social Care teams, service users and external partner agencies.
  • Support compliance with relevant legislation, including the Care Act 2014 and Direct Payments guidance.
  • Identify safeguarding concerns and elevate appropriately.
  • Assist with administration, reporting and maintaining key performance information.
  • Contribute to service improvements, processes and quality assurance activity.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Experience working within a customer-focused environment, ideally within social care, financial administration or a public sector setting.
  • Knowledge or understanding of Direct Payments, social care processes or relevant legislation.
  • Strong administrative skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience monitoring financial information, accounts or records.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to support a range of service users and stakeholders.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong IT skills, including experience using Microsoft Office packages.
  • A professional, proactive and solutions-focused approach.
  • The ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a team.
