Triumph Consultants are recruiting for an experienced Interim Executive Officer / PA to provide high-level executive support within York. This is a unique opportunity to work at the heart of a high-profile public sector organisation, supporting a senior leader in a fast-paced, politically sensitive environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of a busy executive office, managing competing priorities and building effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
About the Role
You will provide comprehensive executive support to a senior leader, acting as a trusted point of contact for internal and external stakeholders. This is a highly visible role requiring excellent organisational skills, political awareness and the ability to handle confidential matters with discretion. You will be responsible for managing a complex diary, coordinating meetings and events, preparing briefing materials and ensuring actions are progressed effectively. The role requires someone who can work independently, take initiative and respond quickly to changing priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-level executive and personal assistant support to a senior leader.
- Manage a complex and constantly changing diary, balancing competing priorities.
- Act as a key liaison with MPs, elected members, government departments, businesses, community representatives and senior stakeholders.
- Coordinate meetings, events, briefings and public engagements.
- Prepare and manage correspondence, reports and briefing materials.
- Handle sensitive, confidential and politically significant matters with professionalism and discretion.
- Monitor and progress actions, ensuring timely follow-up and resolution.
- Respond proactively to urgent issues and changing priorities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Support the effective operation of a busy executive office.
Requirements
- Significant experience supporting a senior executive, politician, elected member or other high-profile leader.
- Experience working within a political, public sector or stakeholder-rich environment.
- Proven ability to manage complex diaries and demanding workloads.
- Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills.
- Strong communication and relationship management abilities.
- Ability to work independently and use initiative.
- Experience handling sensitive and confidential information.
- Sound judgement and the ability to assess and manage risk.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
- Existing Police Vetting clearance.
- Experience supporting senior leaders within local government, combined authorities, public sector organisations or political environments.
Anticipated Length of Assignment: Unless otherwise stated, all of our roles are technically temporary, though opening assignments can be and often are, extended by clients on a longer term basis and can sometimes become permanent.
