The Customs Compliance Specialist is responsible for governing all imports and exports across Clean Harbors divisions and assisting with cross-border moves of equipment, vehicles, specialty items, tools, electronics, waste, chemicals, and/or products.

Key Responsibilities:
- Work with the legal team to investigate and resolve customs issues.
- Assist with cross-border moves of equipment, vehicles, and other items.
- Develop and maintain company-wide cross-border SOPs, incorporating international regulation changes.
- Create standard documents/forms to ensure compliance with government regulations and manage follow-up paperwork.
- Manage customs/broker vendor relationships.
- Collaborate with internal departments to ensure compliance across all countries of operation.
- Understand and utilize routing software and systems.
- Review Free Trade Agreements to ensure utilization and compliance.
- Stay updated on customs policies and regulations.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities related to tariffs, taxes, and duties.
- Perform other duties as needed to support business operations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in International Business or Logistics preferred but not required.
- Experience with route planning and order management preferred.
- Ability to work independently and adapt in complex environments.
- Experience with government sites and customs broker databases such as CBP, CBSA, FMCSA.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience managing imports/exports of vehicles and goods.
- Detail-oriented, dependable, and achievement-driven.
