Short-sea shipping of goods from door to door in high volumes is a complex undertaking with many requirements & responsibilities. Add to this a high paced and dynamic environment where no day is quite the same: obtaining and maintaining customs authorisations, permits and quality systems, monitoring and automating administrative formalities, ensuring compliance with legal requirements, using a large number of IT systems while improving their function and processes, coordinating with clients as well as national and local customs and port authorities.
To support our continued growth, we are looking for a Customs & Border Compliance Officer to join our team in enabling our Shipping, Port & Door to Door divisions to deliver a world-class service. Within this challenging function, you will be the link between operations, customers and the authorities in order to ensure a smooth follow up of all customs related activities.
Your role:
- Deal with all aspects of border compliance & customs related activities in the Shipping & Port environment where the objectives are to ensure compliance with applicable legislation and maximising the efficient flow of goods by resolving any issue that may occur;
- Liaise with Port and Customs authorities, including obtaining & maintaining the necessary authorisations (AEO, Bonded Warehouse, Temporary Storage, etc…);
- Centre of expertise for Customs matters for the organization serving internal & external stakeholders;
- Creating, maintaining & delivering organisation wide procedures, KPI’s and reports;
- Continuously seeking to improve our operation & systems.
Your profile:
- You are fluent in English. Any additional language is an advantage;
- Ideally, you have relevant experience or knowledge in Shipping, Ports or Customs but more importantly a willingness to learn a large amount of complicated subject matter in a short timeframe;
- You are passionate and fast learner with a hands‑on, problem solving mentality that doesn’t relent until an issue is resolved;
- You have excellent communication skills and the ability to create solid relations with both internal and external clients and partners;
- You are able to prioritise, work autonomously and always seek improvements;
- Once every 12 weeks, you provide a standby cover to ensure our operations are supported at all times (Weekend – Early evening).
Our offer:
- This is a permanent position in a high paced and stimulating environment;
- The location of this position is flexible and can be in any office of CLdN in GB (Purfleet, Killingholme or Heysham);
- We offer structural home working capabilities up to 2 days per week;
- An attractive salary & benefits package commensurate with your education and experience;
- Room for personal development and growth in a dynamic and flexible organisation.
