We are looking for an experienced and motivated Care Legal Secretary to join our friendly and supportive childcare law team in Huddersfield. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about client care and wants to make a real difference supporting vulnerable individuals and families. You will play a key role in supporting our Care Solicitors while working within a professional, collaborative, and forward-thinking environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Audio and digital dictation using BigHand
  • Typing legal documents, court documents, emails, and file notes
  • Preparing Legal Aid applications
  • Opening and maintaining files on the case management system
  • Answering calls and assisting clients with enquiries
  • Liaising with clients and professionals to arrange appointments and meetings
  • Managing incoming emails and post
  • Preparing court bundles
  • Updating and maintaining the case management database
  • Ensuring files are accurately time recorded for billing
  • Providing support to other fee earners and secretaries when required
  • Maintaining confidentiality and delivering excellent client care at all times

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience working within a Care/Childcare Law department or similar legal environment
  • Strong typing and digital dictation skills
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • A professional and compassionate telephone manner
  • The ability to prioritise workloads and work efficiently under pressure
  • A proactive and flexible approach to work
  • Strong attention to detail and confidentiality
